Thanksgiving...

Since the holiday has come and gone, I thought I'd write a little about all the eventful events of last week. We went to Dothan on Wednesday and came home on Sunday, so we were there for a long time. It was so nice. On Wednesday, we met Soozan for lunch at Dobb's. It is the oldest restaurant in Dothan, or so the sign says. I hadn't been there in forever, and Justin and I stuck out like tourists at a truck stop. I had on some leggings and huge wedges and Justin was wearing a metro zip-up over a buttonup. We were very overdressed for the rest of the patrons and got some interesting looks. Anyway, they have the best strawberry shortcake, so if you're ever around 231 South, hit em up. After lunch Susan came by the house to meet Oliver and Isabelle, who weren't really interested in meeting her. It was very embarrassing. She didn't get to stay long because she had to pick up her boyfriend at the Birmingham airport. It was very, very good to see you, Sue.
After Sue left I went to pick up some shrimp for dinner. Dusty, Mark and Allie came to eat with us, and I made a fabulous shrimp and corn chowder. SO YUMMY. So bad for you... Allie was very excited to see Uncle Justin. She didn't care so much about Aunt Em. She and Uncle Justin played and played, and poor Isabelle had to be the "baby." The baby was very glad when Allie had to go home. Allie will be 3 in May. She's a tall skinny thing. Dusty and I both look sick in the picture. Sorry about that. One day I am going to make a post all about Dusty, because she says that I have too much time on my hands. I will make sure to include the glamour shots from high school.
Thursday morning we slept late. Mom got up with the dogs, and it was so very nice to sleep late without them barking. At our house we do the big Thanksgiving lunch. This year it was kind of small, just me and Justin, Aaron and Sandi, mom and dad, Papa and Grandma. It was very relaxing. Of course we all ate too much, especially Justin. My mom and I (and now Sandi) love to play games when we are all together, mainly Pictionary. It is like pulling teeth to get the men to play, but I told Aaron that I would go to the gym with him later if he would play for a while. So we divided into teams: the Bostics (the real full-blooded ones) vs. The Wannabees (the ones who married in). So it was me, Aaron and Dad against mom, Sandi and Justin. It was hilarious. My team DOMINATED. Seriously, it was a major victory, until the very end when we couldn't roll a freaking 2 to get to the last space on the board. Does anyone have the rules to Pictionary? We seem to have lost ours and are pretty sure that this rule is something that the Wannabees made up so we would lose. So, the "Number One" that they are holding up is completely false, because we really should have won. I did go with Aaron to the gym when we were done, which I am still surprised about.
On Friday, mom, Justin and I did very little shopping. I just really don't think there are many deals to be had, and I do not believe in getting up early to fight the crowd over 10%. I am too claustrophobic for that. We did get some stuff for Sandi at the Limited, and I nearly had an altercation with the sales lady who refused to give us the discount because it had ended 10 minutes before we got to the front of the line. Never mind the fact that we had been in the store for at least an hour. I do not enjoy snotty salespeople. I did get to see Leah Deanhardt and Allyson Harper at the mall, which made my day and made my anger over the "incident" dissipate. Friday night we went to see Aaron play at Time Out. It's a very smoky sports bar that he plays in frequently. Mom went with us, which was hilarious in itself. She is not a bar go-er; I do believe that she has never been in one until now. She drank 4 Diet Cokes. I'm not sure why that is so funny to me. I had a $6 mixed drink, which I thought was expensive, but Lins Kins assures me that this is quite normal. I must not get out much.

Saturday, mom and I drove all the way to Headland to go to some store that we saw a commerical about. It was closed when we got there, of course. So we went home, grabbed Dad and Justin and made them go see "Enchanted." Has anyone seen this? It was totally ridiculous, but entertaining, nonetheless. I heard on the Today show that it was #1 at the box office, and I was very surprised. I don't think I would watch it again, even though McDreamy is very dreamy in the film. Saturday night we got some take out Mama Rosas/Mias and watched THE GAME. War Eagle!!! Justin and Dad are Alabama fans, so it was really fun for me and mom to gloat. Of course, like all Alabama fans, they are sore losers, so we had to be the bigger man and stop teasing.

On Sunday we came home and put up our Christmas tree. Have you ever seen a 9-foot tree in a 9-foot room? I am going to have to take some pictures of this. We got the tree the day after Christmas last year for like $60. It is huge. I think we thought it was shorter than it is, because it literally touches the ceiling. No room for the star this year. I am so excited that we have an extra week between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. I LOVE Christmas! It really is my favorite time of year. Yesterday I worked from home and just stared at the beautiful (and large) tree with its twinkling lights. So peaceful...

And now I'm back at work where it is very rush rush rush. I think I should work from home everyday.
