I forgot to write about what we did on Friday night. Now anybody who knows me, knows that I am home, on the couch, in my pajamas, with my puppies by 7:30 on any given night (most of the time earlier). I do not like to leave the house for "events" that start after 7. I'm not sure why this is...I think I am just tired/lazy by the time 7 rolls around and very ready to wind down until 9 when I go to bed. And it's dark outside. I know I sound like a senior citizen. Anyway. The youth at church were going swing dancing in Pensacola, and we decided to go with. We had 2 hours of "practice" at the gym. It started at 7...it was all I could do to talk myself into going, but Justin was really into it and refused to listen to my frivolous complaints. Tyler and Karrie (the new youth people) went to school at USA and are quite good swing dancers. We learned lots of super cool new tricks, like flips and lifts. We looked just like Baby and Johnny. I had been sort of freaking out all day trying to figure out what to wear becuase I haven't been dancing in a while, but I should not have even given it a passing thought because we went to the American Legion. Have you ever been to an American Legion?? Think an Elks Lodge or something similar. They had a live band, and people were everywhere. It was so fun! Lots of kids dressed up in fedoras and fishnets. Some girls had on matching outfits, but they looked a little trampy for me. There was this one girl who had on a white halter sundress and white strappy sandals. The girls I was with (myself included) shamed her for wearing such after Labor Day. Next time I am going to get into character. And they had some zap people there, which was really fun. We did not get home until after 1:30 a.m. I can't remember the last time I stayed up that late. I felt like I had been hit by a truck on Saturday morning. I was sore and tired. And now I am sick, but I do not think I can blame the swing dancing for that. Here are some pictures that the zap lady took. If I can get some more I'll post them:
Me and J (apparently the lady did not think my face needed to be in the picture. Whatever.)
The dressed alike girls (if anyone knows them, please discourage them from wearing this in the future).
Thats cool Emily. I dont know if Brent would be a good candidate for this kind of event. Juicy looks like he had fun though.
ReplyDeleteEmily. I likes your blog. How are you?
ReplyDeleteCan we all go swing dancing together? I didn't realize there was a live band and all, it sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe we could wear our matching fishnets!!
