Unmotivated
Does anybody else ever just waste a day? As in do absolutely nothing all day long for no reason at all? I can sum up my day in one word: sat. I am not sick. I am not depressed. I am not pregnant (mom has already asked). I'm apparently just lazy, and daytime tv is so appealing to me. I learn so much from my friends...Matt, Ann, Kelly, Martha... I'm not sure why I am still watching Days of our Lives; it is completely insane, but everyday (well W-F), I am on the couch at 2 p.m. waiting to see if John is really dead or if Belle is going to be caught doing it with Phillip (again). And now Chloe is back, and I am really curious to see what they have planned for her. That's all really. Just wanted to see if anyone else is wasting their life away.

Thanksgiving...
Since the holiday has come and gone, I thought I'd write a little about all the eventful events of last week. We went to Dothan on Wednesday and came home on Sunday, so we were there for a long time. It was so nice. On Wednesday, we met Soozan for lunch at Dobb's. It is the oldest restaurant in Dothan, or so the sign says. I hadn't been there in forever, and Justin and I stuck out like tourists at a truck stop. I had on some leggings and huge wedges and Justin was wearing a metro zip-up over a buttonup. We were very overdressed for the rest of the patrons and got some interesting looks. Anyway, they have the best strawberry shortcake, so if you're ever around 231 South, hit em up. After lunch Susan came by the house to meet Oliver and Isabelle, who weren't really interested in meeting her. It was very embarrassing. She didn't get to stay long because she had to pick up her boyfriend at the Birmingham airport. It was very, very good to see you, Sue.

Thursday morning we slept late. Mom got up with the dogs, and it was so very nice to sleep late without them barking. At our house we do the big Thanksgiving lunch. This year it was kind of small, just me and Justin, Aaron and Sandi, mom and dad, Papa and Grandma. It was very relaxing. Of course we all ate too much, especially Justin. My mom and I (and now Sandi) love to play games when we are all together, mainly Pictionary. It is like pulling teeth to get the men to play, but I told Aaron that I would go to the gym with him later if he would play for a while. So we divided into teams: the Bostics (the real full-blooded ones) vs. The Wannabees (the ones who married in). So it was me, Aaron and Dad against mom, Sandi and Justin. It was hilarious. My team DOMINATED. Seriously, it was a major victory, until the very end when we couldn't roll a freaking 2 to get to the last space on the board. Does anyone have the rules to Pictionary? We seem to have lost ours and are pretty sure that this rule is something that the Wannabees made up so we would lose. So, the "Number One" that they are holding up is completely false, because we really should have won. I did go with Aaron to the gym when we were done, which I am still surprised about.
On Friday, mom, Justin and I did very little shopping. I just really don't think there are many deals to be had, and I do not believe in getting up early to fight the crowd over 10%. I am too claustrophobic for that. We did get some stuff for Sandi at the Limited, and I nearly had an altercation with the sales lady who refused to give us the discount because it had ended 10 minutes before we got to the front of the line. Never mind the fact that we had been in the store for at least an hour. I do not enjoy snotty salespeople. I did get to see Leah Deanhardt and Allyson Harper at the mall, which made my day and made my anger over the "incident" dissipate. Friday night we went to see Aaron play at Time Out. It's a very smoky sports bar that he plays in frequently. Mom went with us, which was hilarious in itself. She is not a bar go-er; I do believe that she has never been in one until now. She drank 4 Diet Cokes. I'm not sure why that is so funny to me. I had a $6 mixed drink, which I thought was expensive, but Lins Kins assures me that this is quite normal. I must not get out much.
Saturday, mom and I drove all the way to Headland to go to some store that we saw a commerical about. It was closed when we got there, of course. So we went home, grabbed Dad and Justin and made them go see "Enchanted." Has anyone seen this? It was totally ridiculous, but entertaining, nonetheless. I heard on the Today show that it was #1 at the box office, and I was very surprised. I don't think I would watch it again, even though McDreamy is very dreamy in the film. Saturday night we got some take out Mama Rosas/Mias and watched THE GAME. War Eagle!!! Justin and Dad are Alabama fans, so it was really fun for me and mom to gloat. Of course, like all Alabama fans, they are sore losers, so we had to be the bigger man and stop teasing.
On Sunday we came home and put up our Christmas tree. Have you ever seen a 9-foot tree in a 9-foot room? I am going to have to take some pictures of this. We got the tree the day after Christmas last year for like $60. It is huge. I think we thought it was shorter than it is, because it literally touches the ceiling. No room for the star this year. I am so excited that we have an extra week between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. I LOVE Christmas! It really is my favorite time of year. Yesterday I worked from home and just stared at the beautiful (and large) tree with its twinkling lights. So peaceful...
And now I'm back at work where it is very rush rush rush. I think I should work from home everyday.
After Sue left I went to pick up some shrimp for dinner. Dusty, Mark and Allie came to eat with us, and I made a fabulous shrimp and corn chowder. SO YUMMY. So bad for you... Allie was very excited to see Uncle Justin. She didn't care so much about Aunt Em. She and Uncle Justin played and played, and poor Isabelle had to be the "baby." The baby was very glad when Allie had to go home. Allie will be 3 in May. She's a tall skinny thing. Dusty and I both look sick in the picture. Sorry about that. One day I am going to make a post all about Dusty, because she says that I have too much time on my hands. I will make sure to include the glamour shots from high school.

Swingin'
I forgot to write about what we did on Friday night. Now anybody who knows me, knows that I am home, on the couch, in my pajamas, with my puppies by 7:30 on any given night (most of the time earlier). I do not like to leave the house for "events" that start after 7. I'm not sure why this is...I think I am just tired/lazy by the time 7 rolls around and very ready to wind down until 9 when I go to bed. And it's dark outside. I know I sound like a senior citizen. Anyway. The youth at church were going swing dancing in Pensacola, and we decided to go with. We had 2 hours of "practice" at the gym. It started at 7...it was all I could do to talk myself into going, but Justin was really into it and refused to listen to my frivolous complaints. Tyler and Karrie (the new youth people) went to school at USA and are quite good swing dancers. We learned lots of super cool new tricks, like flips and lifts. We looked just like Baby and Johnny. I had been sort of freaking out all day trying to figure out what to wear becuase I haven't been dancing in a while, but I should not have even given it a passing thought because we went to the American Legion. Have you ever been to an American Legion?? Think an Elks Lodge or something similar. They had a live band, and people were everywhere. It was so fun! Lots of kids dressed up in fedoras and fishnets. Some girls had on matching outfits, but they looked a little trampy for me. There was this one girl who had on a white halter sundress and white strappy sandals. The girls I was with (myself included) shamed her for wearing such after Labor Day. Next time I am going to get into character. And they had some zap people there, which was really fun. We did not get home until after 1:30 a.m. I can't remember the last time I stayed up that late. I felt like I had been hit by a truck on Saturday morning. I was sore and tired. And now I am sick, but I do not think I can blame the swing dancing for that. Here are some pictures that the zap lady took. If I can get some more I'll post them:

The dressed alike girls (if anyone knows them, please discourage them from wearing this in the future).
Me and J (apparently the lady did not think my face needed to be in the picture. Whatever.)

O Christmas Tree
Last week was insanely busy. We had something planned for every night, and I worked like crazy at church to pull off our Thanksgiving dinner last night. I had planned for 250, but had only about 175. I wish I would have know that before I spent an entire day rolling plasticware in paper napkins...I sure am tired today. It's time for VACATION! We leave for Dothan on Wednesday, and I could not be more excited. I love spending the holidays with my family. It will be our first Thanksgiving with Sandi (as the wife), and I am very glad that she and Aaron plan to eat lunch with us. And I get see Susan!! She is driving through Dothan on her way to Hunstville, and we are going to meet for lunch on Wednesday. Whoo hoo!
Here are some pictures from the Fairhope Tree Lighting. Sorry there are no pictures of the actual lights... not sure what happened to those. It's become quite a tradition with our friends. We meet in front of the Fairhope Fudge Shop and get hot chocolate and peanut butter fudge. SO good. I'm not sure why they did it before Thanksgiving this year, but I'm not one to complain about early Christmas celebration. I love the stuff. The lights will stay lit through Mardi Gras, and they make downtown so beautiful and festive. I love this time of year in Fairhope. If only I had some money... I could buy some stuff at the little shops...

Alone...
Justin has left me for "Survivor Man" weekend. He left this afternoon dressed in his best Bear Grylls attire entirely too excited to spend the night in the wild (aka some random person's land that we don't know). He's going to freeze. So, alone I went to our supper club. He sure did miss a good Thanksgiving-esque meal. I brought him home a plate; I am sure he will be really hungry when he returns. I do hope he doesn't decide to eat any bugs.
I haven't been by myself at night in a really long time. I think the last time I was alone I was dying with the flu, and Nicole was left to take care of me. Justin (knowing I might pass on at any minute) and Jonathan went to Birmingham to work on the Milner Street house. I haven't let him forget that one... I feel like my roommates all have left to go home for the weekend, and I am in Auburn alone. What to do?? I feel like I am breaking all the little rules I, not realizing it, have set for myself. For example, I am up way past my 9 o'clock bedtime (and on the computer, which is really odd), I have all the lights in the house on and I left all the dishes from my supper-club contribution in the sink. I think I am going to let the puppies sleep with me tonight. We've never let them before, but I always want to and Justin says no. So...since he is not here, tonight is a great opportunity to test it out. I'm such a rebellious wife. They can have his side of the bed.

Lazy...
Today is BLAH. I had excellent intentions of really getting a lot done, but I have managed to sleep the vast majority of the day. LAZY. We got up early this morning for Nicole's PiYo Power class at 5:45. Justin seems to think that pilates/yoga is easy-peasy and makes fun of me when I am sore after class. So, today I decided that he should come with. He was the only man in the class, and at one point, said out loud that women must have different muscles than men do. I can't wait until tomorrow when he will not be able to move normally. :) I figure that if I keep up this exercise business I will look like Jessica Biel in no time. I've been saying that for months...
Last night was our official last night of leading the youth at church. We've been doing it for almost 2 years... We finally hired a full-time youth director, and I know Justin is going to miss it more than he lets on. The kids told jokes and stories about him and gave us a gift certificate to Felix's, which I am very excited about. We brought home half a sheet cake, which is going to push this Jessica Biel business back a week or two.
That's it... back to the couch with the animals. They love my lazy days.

War Eagle! Homecoming
I took Justin to Auburn on Saturday. Well, I guess he took me, since he is the one with the money and all...but anyway, I wanted him to truly appreciate all that is "Auburn." It did not go so well. I don't think I will ever understand these die-hard Bama fans that didn't even go to school there. We had to have an "attitude adjustment" in the middle of Big Blue Bagel Deli, after which he started to at least pretend he was having fun. He drank Toomer's Lemonade, let the lady put a sticker on him at J&M and shook a shaker! He says he never actually cheered, but I think he did in his heart. How could you not cheer when the eagle soars and those big planes zoom over the field during pre-game?? I keep telling him that Auburn and the Holy Spirit have a lot in common...they just get in you. So, here's hoping for his conversion from the dark side.
